The model was adopted by Belgian police. It’s a semi automatic, blowback operated, double action pistol. The pistol has steel slide and aluminium alloy frame. Its ambidextrous slide mounted safety switch disconnects the hammer from the trigger. The Browning BDA is fitted with a slide catch which holds the slide open after depleting the magazine. By pressing the slide release lever, the slide can be simply released. The lever is placed on the left side of the frame. The model is aimed using fixed iron sights with contrasting dots. As an alternative, tritium-illuminated meprolight night sights can be fitted. The Browning BDA is talked about as a copy of the Beretta 84, however the difference of these guns is in the safety mechanism.
