About Browning Hi-Power

The Browning Hi-Power is a single action, semi-automatic pistol available in 9mm or .40 S&W. It’s a very famous Browning design, from which a lot of guns took inspiration. Its design is based on a design of American firearms inventor John Browning, but the Hi-Power was completed by an inventor Dieudonné Saive. This design was completed at FN Herstalin Herstal, Belgium. John Browning died in 1926, just several years before the design was completed. The model Hi-Power is definitely  one of the most used pistols for military use in history. More than 50 different armed forces have been using the Browning Hi-Power. The pistol shoots 9mm Luger ammunition. Its maximum capacity is 10 rounds. The Hi-Power holds even less than average pistols of the same caliber, what could be a disadvantage. Standard Hi-Power model is based on a SA design. However, unlike modern DA pistols, the Hi-Power's trigger isn’t connected directly to the hammer. Double-action pistols are carried with the hammer down, with a round in the chamber and a loaded magazine installed, so the shooter can fire the pistol either just by pulling the trigger, or by pulling the hammer to the cocked position and then pulling the trigger. The Hi-Power offers an excellent design.

This model remains in service throughout the whole world. In 2007, the MK1 version of the Hi-Power remained the standard service pistol of the Canadian Forces The Hi-Power modern version is the standard sidearm of the Belgian Army, Israeli Police, Australian Defence Force, Argentine Army, Indian Army, Indonesian Armed Forces, Venezuelan Army, Singapore Armed Forces and Luxembourg Army, among many others.
